Testing Krita 2.7
Whoa, had a small break there, last post was over 3 months ago.
I haven't had much time to do personal projects as I've been working on a project for Aalto University the whole summer.
But now that the project is starting to end and the weather is getting colderand my apartment doesn't feel like an oven I have begun to work again.
I tried out this free painting program Krita, which has some great brushes for sketching.
Here's a piece I did while testing the symmetry feature:

FMX 2013
Last week I attended FMX 2013 conference in Stuttgart, Germany. It was very inspiring 4 days and I'm already thinking of going there next year too.
Highlights of the show for me:
Blue Umbrella short by Pixar
Screening of the short and a making of by the director Saschka Unseld. He also gave us the same pitch he did in Pixar.
Frankenweenie screening from big screen in the park
Iron man 3 screening
It's cool to watch a movie with people who took part in making of it and people who share the same passion.
Also, liked the movie.
Story for artists
Craig Caldwell talked about story structure. He had lots and lots of information and examples.
Acting for animators
A fantastic workshop by Ed Hooks.
Halo 4 face tech
Matt Aldridge talked about their character pipeline in Halo 4. (scanning technology and advanced rigging)
VFX Case Study: Oblivion by Pixomondo
Thilo Ewers and Björn Mayer talked about the vfx Pixomondo did for the film Oblivion.
Some other lectures I attented:
Pacific Rim robot interior construction and design by William Cheng
Case Study: Skyfall intro sequence by Framestore
Case Study: Bourne Legacy by Double Negative
Cinematic production at Epic Games by Greg Mitchell
Cinematics in Cryengine by Hannes Appell
